Instructor: Oksana Zhelisko.
Are you an oil student with some experience wishing to expand your capabilities? Have you ever been in the midst of a vivid urban scene full of movement & colour, or photographed one, and wished you could create an exciting painting from it? In these three evening classes you will learn how to paint an expressive urban landscape in oils indoors from a reference picture.
Class 1: Follow step-by-step instructions using the colours listed above. Learn to apply open, energetic brushwork to your subject. Colour use and composition will also be emphasized.
Classes 2 & 3: In these classes you are invited to use your own inspiring reference images. Choose images from your own photos or from another source to create of your masterpieces. Your instructor will guide you through your own painting journey.
In this class series you will also learn how to make colour accents, how to add abstract patterns to your landscape, how to scale your picture to suite the size of your canvas, how to put figures and cars into the painting without getting too detailed, how to simplify the perspective, and how to make your painting a personal statement. This is great knowledge for the traveler or the armchair traveler – or any painter.
By the end of series, you will have accomplished three small paintings. You will walk away with lots of inspiration and ideas. Happy Painting!
