1st Timers Orientation – Whyte Avenue Art Walk

Are you thinking about doing the Whyte Avenue Art Walk for the first time?

The artist (no proxy) must attend the Mandatory Orientation Session to registration for the Whyte Avenue Art Walk.

Orientation Fee and Registration    $100.00

WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE WALK INS - You must pre-register!

This is your last chance to register as a first timer for 2017!

(If you cannot attend this orientation, you cannot register - we invite you to volunteer with us instead. You will learn all about the event in a hand-on manner and then you will be in the lottery for Early Bird registration next year. )

Space is limited. We have room for 30 more participants. This is a one time fee. When you register, you paying for the session and for your spot at the Whyte Avenue Art Walk  2017.

The Whyte Avenue Art Walk is a non-juried event. Are you brave enough to display your work and share your art-making process? We are seeking artists who love talking about their work and are comfortable sharing their art-making process with others. The event provides the opportunity to meet patrons and earn sales. The chance to meet and network with other artists is also a highlight for participants. 

This orientation includes:

  • A wee bit of a historical perspective
  • Festival events and other happenings
  • Map orientation and parking
  • Tips for displaying artwork
  • Tips for creating art on site
  • Setting up and being prepared for all weather
  • How to make a great impression with Old Strathcona merchants
  • Pricing your artwork and accepting payments
  • Originals vs Prints
  • Commissions
  • Networking with artists and potential patrons
  • Tips for marketing yourself
  • How to avoid copyright issues
  • Check lists and other useful handouts are provided.

  • You must be 18 years or older to register and
  • You art meet the guidelines for the type of art exhibited at The Whyte Avenue Art Walk.
  • Artists are responsible for bringing all tables, tents, easels, chairs, paints, art work etc.
  • First Timers are assigned locations.
  • You do not get to pick your location.
  • Set up starts at 8:00 am daily.
  • Most artists are cleaned-up and gone by 6:00 pm.
