Recently a series of events combined to inspire this post all about painting on textiles. 4 Videos are also highlighted.
Did you see the IKEA story where toy designers used children’s drawings as inspiration for a new line of stuffed animals? It got us thinking about fabric painting. Wouldn’t they look amazing hand-painted? Fabric ideas range from small projects such as T-shirts and pillows to large project like curtains, upholstery and quilting. When it comes to painting on fabrics we’ve got paints, tools, practical advice and how to videos. With so many blendable colours from which to choose, our fabric paint allows for many designer combinations.
We presented a workshop called ‘Fabric Art Innovations’ in Canmore for the Alberta Teachers’ Association Fine Art Convention. Which lead to a two-hour staff meeting to experiment with nearly all the textile painting and drawing materials at The Paint Spot. This hands-on training will make us a better resource for you and it inspires us to create more samples for the store. It is important to feel the paints to understand the differences. The samples will help you decide which paint suits your project. Next week, we’ll put some of our project ideas to the test with a little help from art teachers from the Catholic School Board. We know the ‘50’ Banner Project’ will be a hit. Find out how we did it and stayed on budget. What do you call a pile of cats? A Meowtain! We couldn’t resist the extra pun for a video all about resists for fabric painting.
